The Dining Room Table

In 1985, Mother Art was invited to participate in an exhibition called “Imagine There’s A Future.”
With the Cold War still raging, the idea of this exhibition was to think about positive visions for
the future. We decided to look back to the time of the Viet Nam war to see how activists produced
change. We focused on the group “Another Mother For Peace” which had organized an international
letter writing campaign to protest the Viet Nam war, meeting around a dining room table.
They coined the phrase, “War is not healthy for children and other living things.”
